Skiing

The popular resort of Seefeld is only a 10 minute drive or bus ride away. The variety of slopes in Seefeld make it an excellent choice for Beginners, families and intermediates. Ski Seefeld Winter 2017-2018 saw the reopening of our local slope at Leutasch Kreithlifte.  This is an excellent slope for a half day skiing.  There are several ski schools in Seefeld providing group and private lessons for adults and children from 3 upwards. Schi Schule Seefeld Ski & Snowboard School Sport Aktiv Ski hire is available in Leutasch village centre, Seefeld village centre and at the Rosshütte. If you want to go further afield, there is a wealth of quality ski resorts within a 45-60 minute drive, including Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Axamer-Lizum, Kühtai and Stubai.

Cross country skiing/Langlaufen

The Leutasch Valley is one of the best places in the world in which to cross-country ski, with 260 km of prepared trails to explore. A far cry from the lycra-clad athletes in the Olympic biathlon, classic style cross-country skiing can be picked up fairly quickly, allowing you to go off along the trails after one or two lessons. For those who are up for the challenge, skating style is more technically and physically challenging. Lessons and ski-hire available in the village. Skischule Leutasch (site is in German but they speak english!) do taster courses for beginners every Sunday during the season.

Tobogganing (Rodelbahn)

Truly excellent fun for adults and children alike, this is sledging but not as we know it. Walk (or get the chairlift) up to the top and you’re away down the slope. It could be 2km or so to the bottom so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the experience. Toboggans available to hire locally.

Winter walking/running

Everyone knows that you can ski in Austria, but very few consider winter walking. The Leutasch Valley and Seefeld plateau have hundreds of kilometres of prepared tracks. Rambling along these trails with the snow falling softly around you is one of the greatest pleasures of winter. All you need is warm walking gear and some good hiking boots. A couple of hours and then a stop for some hearty food and a glühwein. Sounds like a perfect day...
